Asset project

In this project, we were tasked with modeling and texturing a 3D asset over a two-week period, ensuring the final result was optimized for export as a glTF file compatible with both a glTF viewer and Sketchfab.

Modeling

I chose to model a blue Smeg espresso machine. The main body was created in Blender using the Subdivision Surface modifier for smooth surfaces and the mirror modifier for symmetry. For precise components like the portafilter, lever, and Smeg logo, I used Fusion 360, utilizing its CAD tools for accuracy.

Texturing

Materials were applied in Blender, while the dark grey handle texture was created in Substance Sampler, requiring UV unwrapping. All decals, including the logo, text, and holes in the metal filter, were designed by me in Photoshop using references from the original machine.

Export

The final asset was exported as a glTF file and successfully tested in both a glTF viewer and Sketchfab, ensuring it retained its intended appearance and optimization.
